What is happening with WCAG 2.1 being formalised in Australia?

  • This is usually up to the Australian Human Rights Commission or the Digital Transformation Agency. There is no word as yet, but individual Government departments and agencies are often requiring compliance to WCAG2.1.

How do we ensure accessibility within data visualizations?

What are the best (and/or easiest) ways to make graphs and infographics accessible?

When using an LMS, is it better to provide content in compliant HTML format, or is it better to use Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Reader?

  • HTML is always the most compliant

When using an LMS, is it better to have videos and external resources open in a new browser window?

  • It is best to play the video within the LMS – even if it is hosted elsewhere. It is also a good idea to warn the user if opening content in a new browser window.

Accessibility glossary and terms:

Customized PDF Forms that includes read-only info pulled from a database and editable fields — how can these be made accessible?

Instagram: are there alternatives to captions and ALT text to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities such as Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Blind/Visually Impaired?

For both FB and IG posts, is it better to put description in alt text on each picture (i.e. override the auto-generated text) or state in the main post the description?

  • Ask your students if they need accessible accommodations.
