PDF tagging overview

Outline

The course includes an overview of the PDF issues encountered by assistive technologies, WCAG2 conformance and your legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act.

Existing or older PDFs often need to be tagged manually, so this session will cover techniques including:

• Editing and correcting the reading order
• Adding, deleting and editing tags
• Adding, deleting and editing bookmarks
• Tagging images
• Tagging tables
• Modifying text
• Tagging bulleted lists
• Tagging links
• Thumbnails
• Using the Accessibility Checker to test the accessibility of your PDF.

Participants will be required to complete a short PDF training exercise that includes applying some of the main accessibility techniques.
