Merry Christmas!

It’s been a busy year for AccessibilityOz. We built a fully accessible site for Energy Rating which spurred us on to rebuild our own website. Have a look around – we’re very proud! Gian and Alison developed our unique Mobile accessibility methodology, which we have used with a number of corporate and Government clients. We’ve also started offering our courses in an online format. And in OzPlayer news, the world’s first fully accessible video player is free for Not-For-Profits and for users with less than 100 videos. We also offer transcript, caption and audio description services as well.

Awards

After working with Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland to make their new web site Level AAA (yes, Level AAA!) accessible it won an Australian Web Award for the best Queensland Government web site. So, please use them as an example of a site that can be functional, aesthetically pleasing and fully accessible!

We also worked pro-bono on the new Youth Disability Advocacy Service’s Disability Rights Hub in 2013 and 2014, which won Silver for Digital Experience – Website in the Melbourne Design Awards 2014.

Conferences and articles

Gian recently has had an incredibly busy few months, speaking at twelve conferences between August and December; four of them in the US! She spoke on a variety of accessibility topics including mobile, social media, video, PDFs and building an accessible web site. To access presentations see our Conferences page. Gian also wrote a number of articles this year on accessible links, CAPTCHA, accessible video, use of colour and making maps accessible. To access her articles see our Articles page.

Quotes from our clients in 2014

Gian, Alison, and the rest of AccessibilityOz team are a pleasure to work with. Their knowledge, experience and techniques –- not to mention their passion for web accessibility –- stand them as the best in the field. If you’re serious about making your website, app or documents accessible to everyone, AccessibilityOz is your go to agency.

When it comes to web accessibility, Gian and the AccessibilityOz team really know their stuff!

Gian and her staff were particularly good at helping us navigate the minefield that is the best use of PDF documents, provision of accessible video and accessible form design. Without their help we would have made many mistakes and not achieved our objectives with the website.
